Hello, my name is Howie. I am a young Shephard/Lab mix and I stand tall and proud. My brother and I used to roam the streets of Bahama’s together.  But one day my brother didn’t come home. A very nice lady picked me up from the streets and sent me to Buffalo CARES so they could help me find a home. The whole ordeal was really scary. When my new foster Mom first met me she though I was a perfect and well behaved dog. It took her a while to realize that I was scared stiff. Once I felt comfortable in my foster home I realized how big and scary the world can be. There are dogs I don’t know that just walk down the street!! I love my canine foster sister but it took us quite a while to get along. I’m told there is a cat living somewhere in the house but judging from the way I react to squirrels and rabbits, it’s probably not a good idea for me to meet here. Buffalo CARES has really done right by me. They sent me to training at K9 Connection to try to teach me and my foster Mom how to react around other dogs. We go on pack walks arranged by the a Buffalo CARES volunteer that works at Amherst Boarding Kennel and we are now in training with some other great fosters with a Buffalo CARES Volunteer that owns Niagara K9 Dog Training. I love training. It keeps me busy and I know what to expects. Both those things are very important to me.  I also love my crate and find great comfort there. My perfect home would have another dog but with someone that would take the time to introduce us correctly. It may take a while. Someone who would continue the good training I’ve started and I probably should not be around small children.  If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an application.
