Description:
Meet Miss Willa! She is approximately 1-1.5 year old Rottweiler mix. Willa came to us a bit on the thin side, and in generally ill health. She has recovered tremendously over the last two months. And now her true puppy behavior is showing through. Willa loves to play, especially with all sorts of toys and balls. Rarely does she not have one with her, and even takes them to bed! (She, with regularity, empties the toy box as soon as her foster parents put the toys back.) Willa is quite the people person. She loves to snuggle up on the couch, take a nap, or just lay by your feet. You’ll find she’s either curled up in ball next to you with her head in your lap, or flopped on her back hanging her head off the chair like a silly girl hoping to get some belly rubs. Willa is house-broken and overall well mannered. She is working on getting used to her crate and learning that it's a safe place for her. She does very well with other dogs (big and small, young and old). She melted right into the pack with her foster sisters after just a few days. Willa has met and played with about 6 other dogs ranging from 9 months old to 14 yrs old. She likes to curl up with her foster sisters. In fact, she and one of her foster sisters regularly take over mom’s reading chair, and engage in snoring contests! She has been around children and is quite gentle even with the little ones. She has no experience with cats (since one of her foster parents is allergic) but will be cat-tested if needed. Willa is a very smart girl and has learned to patiently wait as her food dish is placed on the floor and is “released” to eat. She loves her treats, takes them gently, and waits patiently as treats and carrots are passed out pending she and her foster sisters pass their good manner pop-quizzes. She gets A’s for her sits and down; a B for her stays and come. She is really working hard to get that A for her stays and downs! Willa loves fresh veggies and fruits, and oddly, her new found favorite treat is raw brussel sprouts…yes, brussel sprouts. She’ll run through her set of tricks just to get one of those. She walks well on a leash and is learning to sit when you stop walking at street corners or just in general. She follows along nicely despite likely thinking her foster mom is crazy with all that stopping, walking in reverse, and changing direction – either way, Willa follows right along. And Willa loves car rides. Don’t leave the car door open, otherwise you’ll find her hanging out waiting to go! She rather enjoys going along with her foster dad to run errands. Miss Willa is looking for her forever home; a nice family willing to play with her and enjoy some snuggles on the couch. She would do well with a family who can spend a lot of time with her and may have another dog already in the family. Will you be her perfect match?
