Venus is a sweet girl with a wonderful, yet somewhat guarded personality.
She came to us in a very malnourished, dirty condition.  She seemed
terribly confused and stressed when we first brought her home, but that is
understandable since she was obviously a stray for what seems to have been
quite some time.  She was a bit apprehensive with cats but has settled in
well with the ones in our household.  She is anxious around other dogs but
has shown improvement on walks as she sees them and passes them. She enjoys
meeting other people and has done well meeting most with the exception of
men...she is a bit skeptical of the men she has met but has not been
aggressive at all, just more fearful. She absolutely adores kids and enjoys
playing with them!  She is very smart and very eager to please.  She has
learned to sit, give paw and other paw and is still working on "lay" for
laying down.  She very much dislikes the crate but tolerates it when we go
out as long as we give her a kong filled with treats and peanut butter.
She is housetrained and has not shown any destructive behavior at all.  So
far, she does not have an interest in any toys but does initiate play with
one of resident dogs.  She enjoys running around our fenced yard with us
and going for walks. She is learning how to walk on the leash, as she is
very strong.  She also loves car rides! She has bonded incredibly well with
each member of my family and LOVES to be with us at all times. She is
extremely affectionate with each of us and we just love her so very much.
