Lady is a beautiful senior who came to Buffalo CARES from a high-kill shelter in OH.  The shelter stated that she was a Sheltie; but she is actually a Collie Mix.  Her body and coloring are very “Collie-like”; but her head and snout are more like that of a German Shepherd.  From the first moment in the house, she was well-behaved and well-mannered.  Lady is, well, a lady!

Lady has met many people and other dogs and she has been very friendly with all of them.  She is being fostered in a home with 2 cats.  She has been polite with both of the cats.  She tries to play with one of the cats, but the kitty is not overly interested in play time and ignores her.    

She walks well on leash, is housebroken and is fully trust-worthy in the house; with the exception of when in the room with the cat litter box!  She was severely underweight when she was transported to Buffalo, but is gaining weight steadily with a good diet of whole foods. 

Sadly, she was diagnosed with Renal failure a few weeks after her arrival.  Lady will remain in the care of her Buffalo CARES foster family as a hospice patient.  She is receiving the care she needs to help give her a good quality of life.  Her veterinarian stated that she could have anywhere from 3 months to a year to live.  Until we have to make a quality of life decision for her; she will be loved, and cared for, and cherished!
