Let me introduce myself. I am a neutered male, golden retriever named Dakota and my story begins in Ohio where I was kept behind an electric fence for the first four years of my life. I had little or no human interaction. Buffalo Cares rescued me and transported me to Buffalo where my foster family took me in. Being in the house was a new experience for me. I was a little timid and afraid at first, but I warmed up quickly to my temporary family. They showed me lots of love and attention, and now I am a happy dog. I would benefit from a little discipline. I love people so much I just want to jump on them and smother them with kisses. So I need to learn to sit and stay. I like to go outside on a leash to “take care of business”, but not so happy to be on a tie out. A fenced in yard would be so nice.

Right now I eat two times a day, about 2 cups of dry food in the morning, and two cups at dinnertime. I am slightly overweight, so I need to be conscious of how much I eat. I like to retrieve my ball and go for walks. The exercise does me good. I am content to sleep on the floor at the foot of the bed, but the crate just freaks me out. Some things inside the house are just so new and different to me, even a dishwasher running or a ceiling fan startled me at first. And I would love to play with the two kitties in the house, but they want nothing to do with me-maybe in time, after all they think cats rule and dogs drool. I would love to be in a house with lots of love to go around.  Please consider being my new “furever” family.
