Hi! My name is Fernando! I was rescued by a terrific lady in the Bahamas when I was homeless and living on the streets. Then the wonderful people with Buffalo CARES brought me to Buffalo to stay with a foster family, until I can find a home of my very own! I am only around 1 1/2 years old, so although I am not a baby anymore, I am still a pretty young guy and have many years of love and loyalty to give to my future forever family!

My foster family has both big/small, boy/girl dogs, and 2 house cats. I love to play with the dogs a lot, especially outside in the big fenced yard. As for the cats, though I don't want to hurt them, I do like to run after them if they run. So, I need a home with no cats, or only with cats that are very used to playful young dogs like me. My foster home only has adult kids, but I have gotten to meet young kids and I totally LOVED them! I am only medium sized, just under 40 pounds. My fur is scruffy, and though my paperwork says that I am a Rat Terrier mix, the vet office here said I looked like I have Schnauzer in my family tree too, which makes more sense with my colors and scruffiness. I am a VERY good boy in my crate at night and when my fosters have to go out, and I never have potty accidents in it. I know how to "sit", and if you will let me, my favorite thing of all is cuddling with you on the couch. I LOVE to cuddle up with people! Also, I find car rides lots of fun, and don't even have to be crated when riding in a car. I am not a hyper dog at all, but I do like to do things and play, so a family that likes to go for walks, or have play time in the yard with me would be great. I would even enjoy jogging or hiking too, as I love being outdoors and am not a couch potato! If you think that we are the perfect match, please apply to adopt me today!
