Hi my name is Olex.  I am a young adult male lab retriever mix and am about two years old. I originally came from the Bahamas and while I couldn’t complain about the weather back home, I sure am glad I was rescued. I am a laid back guy just taking in my new surroundings. I originally was found on the streets in the Bahamas by a wonderful lady. She brought me up to Buffalo to ensure that I would find my happily ever after with the help of Buffalo CARES Animal Rescue.  I am a laid back kind of guy so to speak. I like to just hang out on my nice fluffy bed to watch and take in everything.  Life in a home sure is a lot different than where I used to live on the streets.  While my foster dad was out of town for a few days I stayed with a lady who watched me. She had quite the bunch of little kids running around, but they were really friendly and I let them pet me. I also was told I walk nice on a leash with my harness. I have been good with my foster brothers and sisters (four legged), but proper introductions and socialization is always a big part of every home. I love to just lay around the house and admire my humans. I was told I was crate trained because every time I come in the house I go straight to my kennel to lay down and while I was being watched I didn't have one accident in the house.  I was told that I was the best dog she has ever had to dog-sit ...EVER.  After being here for a few days I wasn't really feeling myself and after some tests I was found to have heartworm.  Don’t let this scare you though I have been in treatment and it is almost completed!  Heartworm is completely treatable/curable and I’ll be just fine in no time – like I never had it at all.
